A wonderful day out on the Rack and gorge trip. We chose the heritage class and were warm and comfortable the whole trip. The first stop was a little bit cheesy for us but once we got deep in to the wilderness and hearing the stories of the building of the railway we were in awe! Shane was the host in our carriage not only was his narration brilliant he was able to answer all our questions and had a great sense of humour. The stop at Ranadeen has light refreshments you can purchase highly recommend bringing some cash for that as eftpos may not work due to mobile service. Worth every cent we paid for the lovely outing !

Had a fantastic trip! The train is very rickety and holds the old-school charm of a steam engine.

We were the very last carriage and had the front seats to the rear balcony. As a train nerd, I loved this!

We had no kids in the first-class carriage which was a nice relief between stops as there were kids yelling and screaming everywhere. If you aren’t family oriented I definitely recommend paying the extra for the food and peace and quiet!

A great day out with amazing scenery and informative commentary from West Coast Wilderness Train staff. The rack and pinion steam train departs Queenstown station and takes you through rugged wilderness with stops at 3 stations. Snacks and hot and cold drinks are available to purchase at 1 stop. There is the opportunity to enjoy a short walk in the wilderness by the King River. It's a great half day experience for all ages.

Seriously the best experience, I am so glad I went on this trip.
We stayed in Strahan and went a cruise up the Gordon river the day before, Great.
I don't know why anyone would say it was not good, maybe they didn't like old steam trains or
trains in general. Then don't go on it in the first place!? The narration that was told while on board was really great. I asked for a transcript but it wasn't available. The views where great.
Just get on it and Go.

This is a must experience Tasmanian journey.
I took my whole family and we paid for the premium package. Whilst this was not cheap we all had an incredible trip, and the whole experience was a lifetime memory.

This packaged experience is incredibly well crafted and delivered by their professional staff.
The stories told, the sights and the sounds all culminate in a huge appreciation of times that have changed and the challenges that were overcome. This railway being restored is a masterpiece in itself, and should never be let go from the tasmanian tourism experience.

This is a packaged experience, and one that I will do again. My only regret is only going as far as dubbil barril. Next trip will be to Strahan!
    100% worthwhile !
